Gridley Pool
Gridley Butte County Pool located at 199 E. Hazel Street, Gridley 846-3626. Life Guards on duty! Hours Monday - Saturday 12-5pm. No flotation devices allowed, Swim Suit required (no cut offs) $1.00 a day.

Live Oak Pool
Live Oak Pool located at the the corner of Pennington Road and "P" Street, Live Oak 695-2112. Life Guards on duty! Two water slides.Youth Hours: Mon-Sun 1-5pm and Wed, Fri, Sat 6-8pm. $1.00 a day and .50 a night.

Biggs Pool
The Biggs pool is open from 1-5pm for $1.00 and 6-8pm for 50¢.

4-H County Office
538-7201. This office number can refer you to all 4-H programs in Butte County This program serves children ages 6-19, with mini-members at 5 years of age. New enrollment starts in September. Cost is $15 registration fee. Some examples of projects that members work on are: photography, cooking, quilting, welding, shooting, woodwork, sewing, community service, animals, and cultural arts. This program includes the development of public speaking and fundraising skills, as well as opportunities to be a club officer. There are county wide programs in leadership, horse, guide dogs, and rabbits.

Balle Folklorico El Quinto Sol (Traditional Mexican Dance)
Jose Gonzalez 846-9607, GUARDIAN Building: 300 E. Spruce Street, Gridley (Next to high school). This group practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 PM. There is no charge for the dance lesson, however the parents are asked to help with a costume fundraiser. Parents are also asked to transport their children to any presentations there may be out of town. Lessons are open to anyone who is interested in learning new dances, new cultures, and traditions.

Biggs Gridley Memorial Hospital, CPR Classes
240 Spruce Street, Gridley, 846-5671. CPR classes are held on a monthly basis for youth and adults. Please contact the hospital for date, times, and cost.

Biggs Gridley Memorial Hospital Jr. Volunteers
240 Spruce Street, Gridley, 846-5671. This is a program for 11-18 year olds who want to get exposure to a medical environment and career possibilities while doing service work. Participants go through an eight hour orientation program and are then able to have one-on-one patient contact by visiting, reading, playing games, or other services, filing, making files, and helping hospital staff and patients in a variety of services.

Biggs-Gridley Police Department Explorers
685 Kentucky Street, Gridley, 846-5670. This is a program for Gridley and Biggs High School students who have an interest in Law Enforcement. Please call the above phone number and ask to speak with the officer in charge of the Explorer Program for more details.

Boy Scouts of America
Gridley, Tami Scott, 846-3183. Gridley has Cub Scout Packs (for 2nd – 5th grades) and Boy Scout Troops (ages 11-18yrs). Cub Scout Packs focus on family and den activities, while Boy Scouts focus on boys as leaders and includes more camping and a summer camp program. The annual fee is $40/yr and an optional $12/year for Boyslife Magazine. Registration is generally in the fall when school starts and ends toward the end of October. The Gridley Recreation Department is sponsoring a tiger/wolf pack for 5-6yr olds please call 846-3264 for more information on times and locations.

400 Spruce Street, Gridley. Tues and Wed. 10am - 4 pm, Thurs. 7am - 9pm and Sat. 10am - 1pm. If you are interested in finding your family roots this is a great place to start. There are qualified genealogists waiting to help you discover your interesting forebearers.

Girls Scouts of Sierra Cascade
343-1904: There are local Daisy, Brownie, and Girl Scout Troops in Gridley and Biggs. Some of the activities these groups do are as follows: Daisy explore their local communities, scrapbook, adopt a grandparent, and work on crafts. Brownies: Take day hike or bike trips, overnight camping trip, learn about outer space, and learn about being a helper and a friend. Girl Scouts explore outdoors, overnight trips, work on badges, service projects, and participate in fitness and fashion seminars.

Gridley City Library
The existing library services are:
- A very good selection of books on tape that have been acquired this summer for children and teens.
- Two internet computers: one for homework and two for games.
- “Get Caught doing homework at the library.” After school hours and in the evening. If a staff member randomly catches a student doing homework at the library, they will receive a prize.
- 13 yrs and under, require a parent signature to obtain a library card. Over 13, need only to apply. A library card is needed to check out books and movies.
- Books are checked out for two weeks. Seven movies may be checked out for a week.
- Hours are Mon., Tues., and Fri. from 10 am to 5 pm, Wed. 2-8 pm, Thurs. 2-5pm.
- Story Telling for K-8 students on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 2:30-3:30.

Gridley Teen Youth Center (GUARDIAN Building)
300 E. Spruce Street, Gridley (Next to high school) 846-2115. The teen center provides a variety of activities such as: play station games, a pool table, ping pong table, big screen T.V., and computers with internet access for homework, arts and crafts, magazines, cooking and sewing classes. There is a snack bar with nothing over a $1. The hours of operation are Monday–Thursday from 3:15-6:00 PM and serves Gridley and Biggs 6-12 grade students. Gridley Unified School District Music Programs
John Haeberle and Lynn Crane at the Gridley High School 846-4791 ext. 247. There are music programs geared for 5th-12th grade students through the Gridley Unified School District schools including choirs, marching bands, jazz band, and Broadway musicals. Depending on the program there are different cost and fundraising activities.

Lynn’s Dance Arts

Princess for a day
The Gridley Recreation Department has over 50 dresses available for young girls to borrow for a prom or other formal event. There are a variety of sizes and styles to choose from to save the added expense of purchasing a dress to possibly wear once. If you are interested in a dress or would like to donate dresses, please call 846-3264.

Sycamore Builders Club (Kiwanis)
Student members get opportunities to learn and develop leadership skills through operation of a community service club. Planning and execution of various service projects, weekly or bi-weekly meetings, and social activities help the students prepare for high school and teach the rewards of contributing to their community. Interpersonal communication sills, the importance of values, inclusiveness, teamwork, and character building are all included in the programs learning goals. Mr. Allison is the faculty advisor who incorporates the Gridley Kiwanis and the Gridley High School Key Club members into the Builders Club activities. General meetings are usually held at lunchtime at Sycamore and service meetings (work) are usually carried out after school on Fridays. Mr. Allison can be reached at 846-3675 ext. 18.

TaVaci School of Performing Arts
Kalli Hill, TaVaci Director 530-846-9629. Children ages 4-12 singing group. Children learn correct vocal technique, harmonization, rhythm, theory, choreographed movement, and stage presence. Students meet weekly and culminate their learning in December and May with a musical production, which the community is invited to attend at no cost. Classes will begin in September. Call for class schedules, tuition fees, and other questions.

Weight Watchers
