Small & Simple Things
Attend school functions. You may be surprised at all the amazing things our youth are doing.

Building Assets in Your Schools
Getting involved with the school is a great way to get involved in the lives of the youth of our community. There are lots of things anyone (even you!) can do. Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Find out what Asset the schools are working on this month and find ways to incorporate it into the things you do every day.
- Volunteer at a school. There are lots of things you can do, from reading to children, to sharing information about your career, to helping with special projects. You can find contact information for all the schools on the district web site.
- Attend School Functions like sports events, concerts, and plays.
- Support school fundraisers if you have the means to do so.
- Get to know your child's teachers. Don't wait until there is a problem, have an ongoing dialogue with your child's teachers.
- Become an Art Docent. Do you have two hours each month to share beautiful prints of classic artworks with a local classroom? You do not need to be an artist or have any artistic skill! You just need an interest in art and a willingness to help children learn about classic works. Once a month, you will guide the children in your classroom in a discussion about the prints you have brought in. Then you will help them with a hands-on art project that reflects the common theme of the prints. Lesson manuals are provided that give detailed information and instructions. We are looking for parents, grandparents, and community volunteers. This program depends on volunteers. We hope every child will be able to enjoy this exciting art program. Please call Cindy Scott for more information, 846.0298.
- Say thank you to teachers and other school personnel who you see making a difference.
