You make a difference!

Everyone can build assets. It's not just about great families, or schools, or neighborhoods. It's about each person playing a role in the raising of our children.

It's all about the little things we do every day that add up to big differences. It's learning to think about what ways you can have a positive impact on the youth in our community.

It's the small and simple things that make a big difference

Here's a few ideas to get you started building assets in our youth:

  • Notice them
  • Smile a lot
  • Learn their names
  • Ask them about themselves
  • Look in their eyes when you talk to them
  • Tolerate their interruptions
  • Listen to them
  • Say yes a lot
  • Be nice
  • Set boundaries that keep them safe
  • Be honest
  • Hug them
  • Notice when they're acting differently
  • Invite them over for juice
  • Delight in their discoveries
  • Send them a letter or postcard
  • Tolerate their interruptions
  • Tell them about yourself
  • Ask them to help you
  • Cheer their accomplishments
  • Get more ideas

When we all take responsibility for providing the guidance and support our young people need to be successful we build a tomorrow that is full of hope and possibilities. We make our future safer and better. We make a difference!
