Current Events
We are currently working with a community group on the hero murals, the Gridley Unified School district on grants, and a Youth Career Fair to be held in April.
Get Involved
Please feel free to contact us and let us know if there's another way you'd like to be building assets in our communities' youth. We'd love to help you get the resources you need to make it happen.
Do you want to help spread the asset message? We'd love your help there, too.
What We're Doing Now
Getting the Message Out
Thanks & Marketing
Help Out
If you'd like to help with the development and/or distribution of marketing materials, contact Clark Redfield to get involved.
The marketing committee develops marketing materials and works with the media to promote the messages of Youth First. They also help to market all the projects people are working on in our community to build assets in our youth.
In all of the work of Youth First we need to recognize the work of our participants with public and private thank you's. This committee is in charge of thank you's and celebrating the successes of our community.
Speaker's Bureau
Help Out
The students are looking for more adults and youth who would be interested in helping.
If you'd like to be a part of the Speaker's Bureau, or would like more information, contact Cynthia Soares.
The speaker's bureau is made up of teams of adults and youth who are trained in the 40 Development Assets and how to share the message with all of our community.
A group of students identified community organizations they want to speak to about this framework and encourage them to participate in the larger community process.

Monthly Column in the Gridley Herald
The Strongest Link was a quarterly publication being mailed out to all residents and P.O. boxes in the City of Gridley listing all the activities happening in Gridley and Biggs for families and youth. This information is now found online and advertised in a monthly column in the Gridley Herald. The column will also include information about assets and strengthening our youth.
We need people to collect dates and information on local events. If you know of something that should be included in this publication, or can help in any way, please let us know.
Youth Involvement
In the summer of 2006 a Youth Summit was held. Out of the Youth Summit came:
- The Speakers Bureau
- A group of students at the High School that are working on teacher recognition
- Many students are participating in the Vision Team Meetings
- Students consulting on the future youth activities and projects.
Find out all about what they youth are doing on the Youth First MySpace site.
Overseeing the School Community Policing Partnership Grant
The School Community Policing Partnership Grant from the State of California was awarded to the Youth First Collaborative in June of 2005.
It funds a Gridley/Biggs Community Resource Police Officer to work with both Gridley High School and Biggs High School.
This grant also supported the Youth Summit, Clay Roberts from Search Institute coming to the Gridley Unified School District, the Speakers Bureau training, school counseling at both the Gridley High School and Biggs High School, and the printing of one of the Strongest Links.
The Youth First Executive Committee is the over-seeing body for this grant.
